Iceland's Katla Volcano StirsA recent uptick in seismic activity has geologists in Iceland and abroad concerned - and for good reason.  The 2010 eruption of Eyjafjallajökull disrupted air travel across Europe for eight days, stranding travelers globally.Eyjafjallajökull had a Volcanic Explosivity Index, or VEI, of 4.  Geologists place Katla's VEI between 4 and 6.Katla's last eruption was in 1918, which makes this gap in major eruptions the longest since Iceland was first populated, thought to have begun around 870 AD.Ogmios nervously glances at several nearby volcanoes...Don't get any ideas, guys.http://icelandmonitor.mbl.is/news/nature_and_travel/2016/08/29/katla_eruption_not_if_but_when/
